Greeting from Taki no yu

For a true Japanese experience, the entire layout, including corridors, the lobby, and even inside the elevator is covered with tatami(straw mat). At Taki no yu, we feel it is important that our guests feel relaxed when they stay with us. Our inn’s concept is centered around the rural lodgings of Shinsyu. Therefor you will see many traditional peasant and folk utensils placed around the corridors. With the beautiful views of the Shinano river and the mountains of Shinsyu, you will feel as if you’ve escaped to an ancient historic village. Please feel free to forget about your cares and worries and relax in one of our ingenious rooms that includes an open-air bath or our Japanese maisonette room.

Meal, a specialty of Taki no yu

Our meals consist of dishes which are made with the carefully selected local and seasonal ingredients.

We serve our guests the original meals of Shinsyu in order to properly welcome you for making long and special journey here.

Our meals are truly one of a kind and can’t be tasted elsewhere. Our chefs take tremendous pride in their dishes and love entertaining guests with the local flavors. We are honored to share with you the highest quality of tastes and flavors that come from the nature of Shinsyu. We also make seasonal dishes that will are sure to please.

Smaller-sized 8 Course Dishes from Multi-course Meal

We serve 8 dishes form multi-course meal without deep fried food and meat to the guests who prefer eating small meal to eating full meal(normally 10 dishes course including deep fried food and meat). The main dish of this course is one-pot meal of 15 kinds of seasonal vegetables, served with Bagna càuda sauce and spicy miso sauce.

Enjoy 5 different tastes even in the morning

You will be vitalized for the day by enjoying our grated Japanese yam with 5 different flavors: natto, okra, squid sashimi, seaweed and soft boiled egg.

The bath is made of white and red granites. It is located on the top of the 5-story new building so that you get a sweeping view over the mountains and Shinano river.

You can enjoy seeing the flow of Shinano river all the year round. The view of woods and the flow of Chikuma will relieve the weariness of your journey.

Big bathhouse for females, Mahoroba no yu
~The far-infrared sauna accommodated there

The bath is made of red and dark gray granites.
It is bigger than Seseragi no yu and also in a superb location. You can enjoy the seasonal view of Shinano river throughout the year.

~The bathwater comes from the source of Tokura Kamiyamada hot spring.

TThe water in the private open-air bath has high medicinal quality(pure sulfurous spring). You can also leisurely enjoy the grand view.

Private Bath, Chitose no yu

The private bath is made of black granite which has the advantage of being highly efficient at keeping both the bathwater and the body hot.Thus Chitose no yu is popular among women because it keeps the body warm after the bath and also for its nourishing beauty effect.

Maisonette Room with Private Open-Air Bath

There are 2 floors in the guest room divided into the 1st and 2nd floors. A family or a couple can take the private open-air bath without caring about the surroundings. There is a private open-air bath along with a Japanese style room on the 1st floor. The 2nd floor has more of a Japanese rustic feel to it. The rooms have folk furniture of irori and Ryukyu tatami mats.

The 1st floor is comfortable and made in the traditional Japanese style. The 2nd floor has a twin bed and made in the old style where you can breathe a nostalgic air of Taisho Period. The open-air bath is made of cypress.
